Mason Jars

I feel particularly “homestead-y” this week and it’s been the best ever. I am sprouting lentils in my kitchen AND growing a sourdough starter, and I stepped up my game in both of these endeavors by buying a pack of mason jars. I think I bought mason jars once about a decade ago when I saw someone attractive and super cool on the Internet using them for drinks at a party and I just HAD to have them. 🤦‍♀️

Buying them this time around made me feel good in a less trendy, more “get-shit-done” sort of way. And just in time, too. My sourdough starter is doing *reeeally* well, and would have quickly outgrown the container I had it in previously.

My dad said “don’t you need a permit for that thing??”

Long story short, while canning still befuddles me and I can’t even decide on a plan for what type of greenhouse I want to work on in the spring, the mason jars made me feel like I am headed in the right direction this week.

Thanks for reading, guys. Stay tuned for our next project; CHICKENS!
