Week 2/3

For some reason I’ve felt a lot of (self inflicted) pressure this last week to write a meaningful, creatively-written post narrating the emotional rollercoaster that was the last couple weeks of CDL school, complete with amazing details, plot lines, and character development. That doesn’t seem to be happening AT ALL, so instead y’all get this post. *sigh*

The super short story is; I passed!!

This was all quite an experience, you guys. I have had over a year to build up driving a rig in my head, and anyone who knows me AT ALL knows that probably does not benefit my overall state of mind. Driving a 13’6” tall, 75‘ long, 80,000 lb giant down the road, surrounded by various crazies in traffic, constantly being on unfamiliar routes, all while lacking the ability to ever “just turn around” has felt extremely overwhelming and heavy at times. It has been a “face-your-fears-head-on” type of few weeks, and I’m quite proud of the fact that there was no crying. Well...no public crying at least.

I can’t say enough about Nick and his peeps at Northern Colorado Truck Driving Academy. They were both professional as well as approachable, fun, real, and easy to talk to. I was a bit of a problem child with both residency issues and the fact that I couldn’t exactly swing by to meet and fill out paperwork prior to class, and Nick and his staff totally bent over backwards to accommodate all of my oddball needs.

My honey and I are in the process of reconvening as we speak, and with any luck I’ll be driving the Pete within a couple weeks after some Prime Inc. orientation and training on both our parts. I feel a little freaked out, but actually far more prepared than I’d expected to feel at this point.

For now, kiddo is gainfully employed watching some cartoons, and I’m enjoying a quiet moment with a beautiful view of the mountains out my hotel room window and some kick-ass air conditioning. Feeling accomplished...today is a good day.

Thanks for reading. Stay awesome, friends! ♥️
