Truck tour
An overdue post regarding our new truck & how in the world we all fit in here!
We’ve been jumping from truck to truck a bit since we’ve been out here thanks to the leasing program our company offers, partially to learn which ones we like most, and also partially accidentally. Live and learn I guess? *face palm*
Anyways, this rig has been the first one we’ve felt we’ll have for the long haul, and aside from some *hopefully minor* mechanical hiccups last week, we’ve been super happy with her.
Without further ado.....Petey!!
We’ve obviously had to be creative about storage, and *reeeeally* consider what we want onboard. We do have some under bed/side box storage, so that helps a lot.
So this is looking back towards the sleeper. Our previous Peterbilts were called mid roofs & had a much shorter clearance-along with that the ceiling was lower, and the room between the bottom and top bunk was probably about half this. It was literally impossible to even sit up in bed to read in the last truck, so this feels super roomy and awesome!
We’ve got a microwave on the top right, and our fridge sits down on the bottom left. My “clothesline” situation up top is just a bungee hung between two convenient posts. I didn’t know if it would help much at first, but it’s actually been really awesome for lightweight stuff; an ID lanyard, masks, beanies, and my recent favorite, drying off icy, soaked gloves/socks after chaining up.
This is the top bunk; we call it “upstairs”. 😆 We keep first aid kits, clothes, food & supplies up here mainly, along with some a box or two of miscellaneous things.
It looks more like this in transit; lids on & all seatbelted in.
This has been one of the best things ever; one of those closet shoe organizers. Good for all the stuff we can’t find homes for anywhere else.
A closet big enough to hang all our shirts in. We added some extra lighting to it so we don’t have to shuffle around in the dark to find stuff, and now it looks like a disco party, so that’s a plus too.
My favorite part. Just because I miss my plants and the green is nice (even if it is just plastic😭).
This ladder tucks up at an angle and nests inside the top bunk when it isn’t being used. Another favorite of mine.
A HUGE awesome component of the Peterbilt vs Freightliner; built in curtains! Doesn’t sound like much but they are soooooo wonderful.
Aaaaand this is our truck cat. As you can see, he has no food whatsoever and is terribly hungry. 🤔
Cheers folks, thanks for reading. Happy Tuesday y’all!
