CAUTION: There are no Rowan updates in this post.
So, B worked on his birthday, which is just plain wrong, so we planned to celebrate during his last bit of time off. My amazing childhood friend who just happens to live here in Fort Collins babysat kiddo for the afternoon, and we decided on driving up to Red Feather Lakes, just to sightsee and get out for a bit. Great weather, a free day, and a full tank of gas has long been one of our favorite things. There wasn't as much to see at Red Feather as we'd hoped, so we explored some of the Forest Service/logging roads in the area--and ended up getting spit out in an area we had previously explored on the way to Steamboat Springs many months ago. Since Red Feather didn't take very long, we decided to check out the trail up to an alleged 'Mountain Campus' branch of Colorado State University. The dirt road took us nearly 20 miles up into the mountains & through an old burn area from 1995, we had BEAUTIFUL views the whole way. Thinking the 'mountain campus' would might be a couple of haggard cabins, we were pretty shocked to find a beautiful, sprawled out campus with 19 buildings & a skeleton-crew staff who was super friendly & knowledgeable about the place. It was awesome up there, guys. In conclusion, 'twas a great adventure. Here are some more images from our day.
Happy birthday to the best partner in crime a girl could ask for! 💙.....also, I took pity on those of you who stuck it out for this post, and included a Ro update afterall. This is what he was doing while we were traipsing the countryside. Thanks Marialena!
