After the Fact Updates. (Like, way after the fact.)
Wow. What a TERRIBLY slow update to the cliffhanger I left everyone with in the last article. Sorry, all. Between taxes, some GI Bill issues, my semester coming to a close, and all the regular life things, we just got super busy after returning so I've neglected the blog. Shame on me.Anyways...our Trinity trip was an experience, in spite of not doing any of the things we had planned. 😕 It was a tough trip for Ro. He was very unsettled and we never really got into a great routine of driving/taking breaks like we did with our previous trip when everything went so smoothly. Our 8 hour drive took 12 easily, and we were pretty wiped by the time we arrived at our hotel in Socorro. We cruised the town to get gas & grab some quick dinner, made a plan for Trinity & VLA the following day, bathed the kiddo, set our alarms & went to bed.......only to get almost no sleep until about 4am. In hindsight, I think Ro was likely teething. It was just one of those 'up every hour' nights. Anyways, by the time our early alarms went off, we had decided to take advantage of the first time he had been legitimately asleep by sleeping ourselves. We figured it would make for such a nicer day...however by the time we got out to Trinity traffic was at a standstill 20 miles away from the front gate.No thank you.Soooooooo....we turned around and decided to drive to Roswell! It was a great drive, beautiful weather, we saw some of the quirkiest, smallest, weirdest towns ever, AND we found a great campground for our Trinity trip 2.0 next April. It's right on top of & looking down on a 5,000 year old lava flow in the middle of the NM desert. We can't wait!
